⚡Eco-Friendly
As a PGE-approved contractor, Apex Mechanical is excited to help you drive a clean energy future by installing the right EV charger for your needs. We’re also well-versed in which chargers qualify for PGE rebates, how to obtain a rebate if your new qualified charger requires an electrical panel upgrade, and how to earn credits on your bill by participating in PGE EV Smart Charging.
The PGE Smart Charging program offers benefits to Portland General Electric's residential customers, allowing them to save money and contribute to a more sustainable energy future.
By upgrading to a Level 2 EV Charger, you can qualify for rebates of up to $300—or up to $1,000 for income-qualified customers—on both the purchase and installation. Additionally, if your upgrade requires an electrical panel enhancement, you can receive up to $1,000 (or up to $5,000 for income-qualified customers) to offset the costs.
When you apply for your EV charger rebate, you are automatically enrolled in the PGE Smart Charging program. By participating in smart charging events, you can earn $25 bill credits twice a year, adding further savings to your electric bill.
Participating in the PGE Smart Charging program helps PGE manage energy demand during peak times, reducing strain on the grid. By optimizing energy usage, you contribute to a cleaner, more reliable energy grid for everyone in Oregon, helping to build a sustainable future.
PGE Smart Charging events occur during the same few hours on weekdays, when Portland General Electric may pause your EV charging during peak energy demand times. These events help manage the overall load on the grid, supporting a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
By allowing PGE to manage your EV charging during Smart Charging events, you can earn rewards for your participation. Simply meet a few requirements to qualify.
Smart Charging Events: Participate in at least three events per cycle (typically two to three months). Charging Frequency: Charge your EV at least 13 times during each cycle. Connectivity: Keep your EV charger connected to the internet for at least 50% of the time during each cycle.
Yes! You always have the flexibility to opt out of any specific Smart Charging event if it doesn't fit your schedule. Your participation is entirely up to you, and you can choose which events work best for you.
"Recently had them install my level 2 charger at home. I went through PGE, they connected me with Arlyn at APEX. He was great to work and communicated very efficiently and had my charger installed with 3 days of reaching out!"
"Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and technicians. We were kept informed about the status of our EV charger that was on back order and pushed out the installation date. Installer arrived right on time and was done promptly."
